Warmth

A personal series about the night shift, told through one man and his hands.

The same man sits on an upturned plastic crate outside a bus depot before dawn, holding a paper cup, under a single orange lamp; a parked bus and green strip lights behind him.

4 a.m., outside the bus depot.

Warmth started as twenty portraits of people who work between midnight and six. It became one man on a crate outside a bus depot, because the other nineteen kept telling the same story with their hands.

Three nights in February, each ending at 4 a.m. The depot lights still on, the first drivers not yet in, the coffee the only warm thing in the frame. Printed as nine C-type prints, the largest 150 cm wide.
